Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon (4 March 1526 – 23 July 1596), was an English nobleman and courtier. He was the second child of William Carey and Mary Boleyn and a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I. Carey served twice as Member of Parliament; in 1559 he was created Baron by his first cousin Elizabeth I of England. Elizabeth appointed Carey Captain of the Gentlemen Pensioners in 1564, a position making him effectively her personal bodyguard for four years....

Henry Hastings, 3rd Earl of Huntingdon, noted Puritan politician and a heir presumptive to the crown. During the Northern Rebellion (1569-1570), he was appointed a custodian of Mary Queen of Scots (1569), and made Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and Rutland and, in 1572 Lord President of the North.
